Blackington Stud is based on part of the Walker family's arable and dairy farm in Oxfordshire. A decision to leave horses as a career as a result of staffing problems and losses of well loved youngsters, coupled with long term health challenges, we have run the stud operation down and are only breeding on a very small scale. We no longer have the youngstock at home. However, Fran maintains her keen interest in breeding. She has been incredibly successful being the first British Breeder to breed a horse or pony to win the German Young Horse Championships (Bundeschampionate), which is a an achievement of a lifetime, though sadly not recognized by the British breeding authorities. She has also bred a young horse selected to compete at the World Breeding Dressage Horse Championships! While we are still breeding one or two horses Fran (with her vast knowledge of German breeding and a good grasp of Dutch and extremely critical eye) chooses the stallions for each mare. Juliet deals with the marketing of the stud and is the UK agent for the frozen semen of Casino Royale K and of our own stallion, BKS Grand Design.
