Pav and Fran won both qualifiers for the National Championships at the South West Regionals at Prix St Georges and Inter 1. This their first major championship win together and first season at Inter 1, and a solid achievement after a hard year getting the talented but mischievously spooky gelding on track. Especially pleasing as Pav, although hugely talented in his work, does not have the benefit of a naturally big walk with the free marks that that can bring. The pair have to work hard to ensure the rest of their work is correct, accurate and expressive, owing much to Spencer Wilton's excellent coaching and understanding of Pav's unique character.
Pavarotti and Fran Placed 11 in a very strong PSG class at the Nationals, narrowly missing out on a place in the Inter 1 freestyle.
The 2011 PSG class at the Nationals was 35 strong and full of big names and top class horses. Placing 11 in that class and a disappointing 20th of 32 in the Inter1 meant a nail-biting wait to see if that was good enough to go to the Kur. Sadly they were pipped by one mark to a place in the final day's competition.
