Hilken's Black Delight

This wonderful stallion had great success in Germany and was sold to The Haras du Feuillard in France in 2009 where he continued to stand at stud. He has now been withdrawn from sale outside of France as stocks of his frozen semen are now low. He now has several licensed sons and successful ridden ponies across the world. Relatives of his now available in the UK include Hilken’s Charismatic (who we bought as a foal from Germany) and our very own Grand Design!

Black Delight

Black Delight won the 2005 Weser-Ems licensing and was the first pony ever to be invited to the Oldenburg Stallion Parade, where he received a standing ovation and was described as being "as close to perfection as possible" and the most stunning pony they had seen for at least six years since his sire, Branduardi M, won the licensing.

His blood lines are loaded with big names and highly successful relatives, among them his ¾ sister, Hilken's Shakyrah, who not only won the Elite Mare Show in Vechta, but also the class of the three year olds at the National Mare Show in Warendorf.

In 2007 Black Delight was reserve champion at the Berlin National Stallion Show (a very prestigious event held every four years, by invitation only) and Champion Riding Pony at Höven, with an overall score of 8.7 (no score under 8 and three 9s).

Also in 2007, he became Champion 4-year-old Riding Pony at the Oldenburger/Weser-Ems Championships in Rastede, winning the first round and beating 34 other ponies, with a score of 8.7. In doing so, he qualified for the Bundeschampionate.

In November 2007 Black Delight won his 30-day performance test with the overall score of 8.71. He scored 10 from the guest rider and was particularly praised for his jumping, both X-country and show. Presented at the Hanoverian and Weser-Ems stallion shows in February 2008, Black Delight wowed the audience with his fabulous presence and showed off his winter dressage training by popping in a few perfect flying changes.

In March 2009 he became champion of the 6 - 9-year-old stallions in Weser-Ems. He found a new partner in Christin Scheel, an inexperienced young pony rider, and in June qualified for the 2009 Bundeschampionate, where he came third in the small final.

Following this success he was sold to the Haras du Feuillard in France, where he is owned by Benoit and Valérie Burban.

In 2009 his first crop of sons came forward for the licensings, three of whom were licensed in the north of Germany, one following in his illustrious father's footsteps by also becoming licensing champion. He now has successful daughters and sons and is represented in 2012 at the Bundeschampionate. Two of his sons are young ridden prospects at Blackington Stud and are great characters, with huge potential for ridden classes of the future.
