Grand Design is a super young pony with a wonderful, easy temperament. He was licensed in Hannover, Germany, in November 2010 as a 2 year old. He received an ovation from the crowd for his trot and was one of the smallest riding ponies licensed in Germany that year.

He has three great paces with a very expressive trot with good knee action. His canter is superb, always uphill and in balance, and he has a ground covering walk with impressive over-track. He enjoys his work and has a willing approach to learning new movements. Scoring 68% and above at Elementary and Novice he started FEI late in 2015 with his 12 year old rider, and they were selected for the GB Prime Squad (International).  He started his first internationals in 2016 at The College, followed by Saumur, and Roosendaal where he won the Consolation Final with 68%. He was selected as Second Reserve for the Europeans with a great score of 70% at the Final Selection Trial at Hartpury Festival of Dressage in July 2016. 

His conformation is excellent, he is short coupled with a lovely set and shape of neck, which maintains its shape when ridden. He has good bone and excellent leg conformation. He would offer improvement to a range of mares, and at only 14hh would be especially valuable in creating ponies from horse mares. He is a friendly and loveable character, is easy to handle and care for and is a great favourite on the yard.

Sire:

FS Golden Moonlight, a stunning 143cm son of Golden Dancer, was champion of his licensing in ‘94, Vice Bundeschampion in ‘97 & had 15 successive victories in dressage. In his first 3 years of covering, he produced 10 State Premium mares & 8 licensed sons, inc FS Golden Highlight. He is renowned for passing on his rideability and suitability for children’s ponies. His full sister, FS Golden Sunlight, is the dam of the famous FS Don’t Worry.

Dam:

Famous in Weser-Ems, Elite State Premium Sira is the dam of many outstanding sports ponies, including BKS Coolio, the 2016 Bundeschampion of the 4 year old mares and geldings, the stallion Daimler & the mare Shanyah.  Her daughter Syrah, dam of Hilkens Black Delight, was Weser- Ems champion mare & won the Federal Mare Show. Her daughter Shakyrah, dam of premium licensed stallion Hilken’s Charismatic, was also a champion mare. Sira’s son, Principal was successful in FEI sport and a team GB member. Her daughter Sophie, won her mare performance test, was champion mare & came 4th in the Bundeschampionate.

Damsire:

Black Boy is the result of crossing a horse with a Welsh B. He was champion stallion in 1986 & reserve champion of his performance test. He has 18 licensed sons, several champion daughters and in one year at the Bundeschampionate had the most offspring of any stallion.
